Libretto:

A competition entry for Maylad, which envisaged a mixed-use development on a several-hectare site between Beck Avenue and Czerniakowska Street, near Czerniakowskie Lake. It was this surrounding area that greatly influenced the idea for the development of the site and the central theme of preserving the existing canal and designing new ponds resembling the natural floodplain of a river. Buildings with different functions – residential, office, retail – are located in between. This part of the city, with its natural habitat of the Vistula’s old riverbed, is becoming increasingly built up. That is why it was so important for us to respect the said natural qualities of this site, into which we have integrated a developing hunk of the new city.
